The conventions of all Sri Sathya Sai Schools represent a Divine Blessing bestowed upon us
by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. These gatherings provide a unique and sacred opportunity
for school management members, principals, senior teachers, resource persons, and
diploma holders to come together on a single platform, unified by their shared dedication to
Sai's philosophy of education. Through these conventions, the principles of Caring, Sharing,
and Hand-holding are not only discussed but actively put into practice, with the ultimate
goal of uplifting and improving the standards and ethos of Sri Sathya Sai Schools across the
country.
These conventions serve as a melting pot of wisdom and ideas, where participants share
their insights, experiences, and innovations, with each session reinforcing Bhagawan’s vision
of holistic education. This vision transcends academic achievement and emphasizes
character development, values-based education, and the nurturing of students into ideal
citizens who lead by example.
Moreover, the conventions highlight the importance of collaboration, allowing schools to
learn from one another and align their practices with Bhagawan’s message of selfless
service, humility, and unity. It is through this spirit of mutual support that the schools
continue to grow, refine their educational methodologies, and find innovative ways to
address contemporary challenges while remaining rooted in spiritual and human values.
Till date, 7 such conventions have been held, each contributing significantly to the
development and advancement of the Sri Sathya Sai Education system. These conventions
have been instrumental in ensuring that the educational institutions under Sai’s divine
guidance continue to thrive, providing students not only with academic knowledge but also
with life skills and values that are essential for leading a meaningful and fulfilling life.
In 1979, Bhagawan blessed the educational programme to take it into the ‘public domain’.
Thus, the Education in Human Values (EHV) programme was born. Bhagawan blessed all
educators in the following words:
“Because of your good fortune, you could participate in the propagation of human values.
Never misuse this opportunity. From the day of sankramana (next day, 14th January), you
propagate these values to children and also adults, and strive for the welfare of this country,
and take it to its pristine glory”.
In all Sathya Sai Schools, education goes beyond intellectual development - it shapes
students into compassionate, responsible, and morally upright individuals. Through
activities that promote empathy, community service, environmental stewardship, and
cultural appreciation, Sathya Sai Schools cultivate an ethos that encourages the emergence
of universal human values. This holistic approach to education aims not only to build
academic excellence but also to mould students into exemplary human beings, dedicated to
serving society and upholding the ideals of selfless love and unity.
The 2 nd convention further strengthened the bonds of all Sai Schools to carry forward
uniformed policies as designed by the Sathya Sai Curriculum. School teams started sharing
their ideas with one another to promote Cultural and Academic activities with value
integration.
Several ideas were presented by eminent speakers and principals of Sathya Sai schools
across India.
The 3 rd convention that was conducted at the Divine Abode of our beloved Baba once again
formulated value-based policies and goals for all Sathya Sai Schools in India, ensuring a
healthy and sacred environment that reflects the Sai Schools’ mission.
The theme of the convention was “The Way Forward to Excellence” – to take stock of the
commissions and omissions since the second convention and pave the way for future
commitments and actions.
The Way Forward to Excellence:
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba's legacy lives on in young hearts, transforming society, nation
and the world.
Dr B. G. Pitre, Director, Institute of Sathya Sai Education India, went down memory lane to
traverse the journey of education by citing the Divine Plans and the chronological order of
events that culminated in the coming together of all Sathya Sai Schools under a common
minimum programme and the setting up of 4 training centres across the length and breadth
of the country.
Significant emphasis was placed on the implementation of a Common Minimum
Programme, which serves as a unifying framework for all Sathya Sai Schools. This initiative
includes the establishment of a common logo, school song, and uniform, symbolizing the
shared values and collective identity of the institutions.
The distinctive characteristic of Sathya Sai Schools is the seamless integration of academic
learning with spiritual growth, where values such as truth, righteousness, peace, love, and
non-violence are not only imbibed but practiced in everyday life. This values-based
education is embedded within the curriculum, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities,
creating a balanced atmosphere where both intellect and character are nurtured.
The 4 th convention stressed on the quality standards in scholastic, co-curricular and
administrative spheres. The common minimum program that was adopted in the 1 st
convention was once again reiterated in the sessions. Directions were given for setting a
benchmark for quality education.
A Sathya Sai School uniquely blends secular education with spirituality, character
development, and the practice of universal human values, deeply rooted in the teachings of
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. What sets Sathya Sai Schools apart from conventional
educational institutions is their nurturing environment, infused with love and selflessness,
which fosters the holistic development of students.
The 5 th convention at Vizag highlighted the process of Experiential Learning in detail in order
to strengthen the holistic development of students. The focus was mainly upon activities
related to different subjects. The code of conduct of Sai Schools was reinforced in order to
continue the ongoing value based educational philosophy.
All the delegates solemnly took an oath to uphold and preserve the rich legacy advocated by
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, committing themselves to impart human values-based
education to students at every level—from young children to those pursuing higher
learning. Through this vow, the delegates embrace their role as torchbearers of Bhagawan’s
philosophy, aiming to cultivate not only intellectual excellence but also moral integrity and
compassionate leadership in future generations.
The 6th National Convention of the Sri Sathya Sai Schools in India held on 29 th and 30 th
October, 2022, in Prashanthi Nilayam with more than 400 participants, included the
management, administration, principals and senior teachers of various Sai Schools. The
inaugural session commenced with Vedam chanting, a procession of participants into the Sai
Kulwant Hall and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Sri K. Chakravarthi (Chairman, Sri
Sathya Sai Global Council), Sri R.J. Rathnakar (Managing Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust)
Sri Nimish Pandya (All India President, SSSSO) and the members of the Sri Sathya Sai
National Council for Schools.
The theme of the convention was “Excellence in Schools, the Sai Way”. The convention
strengthened the roots of Sri Sathya Education and reminded all participants to uphold the
Value Systems propagated by Bhagawan Baba.
